WENDY KNIGHT
Registered Social Worker, MSW
“So often, when we feel lost, adrift in our lives, our first instinct is to look out into the distance to find the nearest shore. But that shore, that solid ground, is within us. The anchor we are searching for is connection, and it is internal." - Brene Brown
ABOUT WENDY
I understand that reaching out for counselling is a brave and often vulnerable step. My priority is to create a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences openly and at your own pace.
With 19 years of experience in community, educational, and hospital mental health settings, I’ve developed a deep understanding of the wide range of challenges people face. My background is further supported by specialized training in trauma-informed care, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). These approaches allow me to offer flexible, evidence-based support tailored to your unique needs — whether you're navigating anxiety, school avoidance, substance use, or complex emotional difficulties such as Borderline Personality Disorder.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with people across all ages, including caregivers and families. This has given me a deep respect for each person’s individual journey. In my work with children and families, I provide attachment-based, emotion-focused support aimed at strengthening relationships, improving communication, and addressing emotional needs within the family system. This approach helps build healthier patterns of connection and emotion regulation, creating a more secure and supportive environment at home.
Whether I'm working with you or your child, I am committed to a collaborative process. Together, we’ll identify what’s needed, build coping strategies, and nurture the resilience that helps move you toward your goals. I truly believe in your capacity for healing and growth — and I’m here to walk alongside you on that path.
